Our contest station is situated in the Stribro city in west part of CZECH REPUBLIC.
Město Stříbro se nalézá 30 km západně od Plzně nad údolím řeky Mže. První písemné údaje o městě se datují od roku 1183. Výhodná poloha na trase Praha-Norimberk měla výrazný podíl na rozkvětu královského města Stříbra stejně jako hornictví a dolování rud, které daly samotnému městu jméno.
V současné době má Stříbro přes osm tisíc obyvatel. Historické jádro města je vyhlášeno městskou památkovou zónou. Prostor náměstí je hodnotným městským interiérem, mimořádně významná je renesanční radnice s překrásnou sgrafitovou výzdobou fasády. Pozoruhodné jsou i renesanční domovní portály, vytvářející ojedinělou architektonickou skupinu. Ve městě se nachází celá řada významných historických objektů.
The town Stribro is situated 30 km west of Plzen on the Mze river valley. The first written document concerning the town dates back to 1183. The prosperity of the royal town Stribro was enabled by the convenient location on the trade route Prague-Nürnberg as well by the ore mining, which has a close connection with the towns name.
At the present time, Sriíbro has more than 8000 inhabitants. The historic heart of the town has been declared the historical town-reservation. The most important town sights are the town square itself and the superb renaissance town hall decorated by exquisite grafiti, as well as the remarkable group of renaissance house-portals of great architectural merit.
There are many other important historical buildings in the town, as well as architectural sights, and the town itself is an important touristic centre of the region.
Die Stadt Stribro (Mies) liegt etwa 30 km westlich von Pilsen oberhalb des Mže-Flußtals. Die erste urkundliche Erwähnung stammt aus dem Jahre 1183. Sowohl die günstige Lage an dem Handelsweg zwischen Prag und Nürnberg, als auch der Erzabbau ermöglichten eine rasche Entwicklung der Königlichen Stadt, deren tschechischer Name Stříbro (Silber) im engen Zusammenhang mit den Bergbautätigkeit steht.
Zur Zeit hat Stribro etwa 8000 Einwohner. Der historische Stadtkern wurde unter Denkmalschutz gestellt, insbesondere der Marktplatz mit seinen Bürgerhausern, und das architektonisch wertvolle Renaissance-Rathaus. dessen Fassade von wunderschönen Sgrafiti geschmückt ist. Bemerkenswert sind alte Renaissance-Hausportale.
